On November 25th 2009, the website Wikileaks.org released 573,000 text messages sent to pagers in the United States during the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
I chose to create this site to display a portion of these messages.
The main reason I chose to do this is that I feel the events of September 11th happened to all of us. It was a global attack, as well as an attack on New York. It was a day which will stay in our minds forever. We each recall where we were on the day, and how the attack became known to us. Even today, bills are passed by politicians across the world that pertain directly to that event, and our everyday lives will be affected by that event for a long time still.
I hope the leaked information sheds a light on what actually happened, and how we can prevent attacks like that in the future. However, on 911stories.net you will find a selected, aesthetic reproduction of the messages that I hope will make you ponder a bit.

I’m from brazil, and this is just amazing!
But i’m having the same problem, it’s been 20 minutes and i’ve seen 3 messages, they keep changing in 8 I guess but they don’t change the message to another one, it comes back with the same message, but placed in somewhere else on the page.
I have the same problem as bec – the quotes are changing every 20 minutes or so…
Very strange. They should change every 8 seconds or so. Which browser/OS?

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that certain quote on your site such as “Get Ready, It’s Time” do look quite chilling out of context, but they are actually from an HIV clinic where patients set up their own messages to take their meds. You can look at other IDs and see this for yourself.
So…you should take those off as they are pointless in context.

Ya, there will be many texts that can be misunderstood since the context may not always have to do with the attack.
